Have you been told there is a waiting list for your child’s NHS Orthodontic assessment? We understand that this can be very frustrating for parents and cause anxiety for patients. You can avoid any delay here at Ewell. Initial consultations for under 18s are available free* and there is no waiting list at all.
You may have been advised that your child does not meet the criteria for NHS treatment – Although we do not provide treatment on the NHS, we can provide a second opinion. You can also compare our affordable treatment options and convenient out of school hours appointments with the service you would receive at an NHS practice.
As a private practice, Ewell Orthodontics can treat children at any age and offer any removable or fixed appliance our patients would like! This gives us complete clinical freedom to treat our patients to the highest standards, just as we were taught in our training, regardless of our patients IOTN (Index of Treatment Need) and the restrictions set by the NHS.
Orthodontic treatment is now only available on the NHS at a very limited number of practices. To receive NHS treatment patients must be under the age of 18 and fulfil specific criteria on the IOTN grading scale. There are two scales used to grade the teeth, clinical and aesthetic. Irregularities must score three or above on the clinical scale and six or above on the aesthetic scale in order to qualify. Unfortunately, this scale is very subjective in the borderline cases and this does pose a problem for parents who are keen to have NHS treatment.
We offer a FREE CONSULTATION for anyone under the age of 18* who would like to get a second opinion about their child’s teeth and their IOTN score. If we feel you do qualify, we will advise you of this and we can ask your dentist to refer appropriately.
Book a free consultation* for your child now and see how we compare. You will not be disappointed!
*10am – 3pm only. Out of school hours consultations are also available. See our Treatment Costs page for more details.
